Overview:

What is Automap?
Automap is a piece of software that comes with all Novation controllers. It has been designed to make the job of assigning your hardware controls to various software parameters quick and easy.

For example, this is Nocturn Keyboards control surface alongside the Automap edit page
Out of Control?

Despite having knobs and sliders, most MIDI controllers are no good at controlling plug-ins. You have to read through the manual, find out the MIDI controller numbers for each control, and manually assign and name each parameter, letter by letter. Some controllers come with templates, which just fix controls to a few parameters on a hand-full of plug-ins.
In Control

Automap enables knobs, faders and buttons to instantly control plug-in instruments/FX, as well as your sequencer's mixer, transport controls and more…

• With Automap, when you open a plug-in, you have instant access to all the plug-in parameters, allowing you to assign knobs, faders and
buttons, by simply clicking on the software parameter, and touching the control.

• Automap's edit page graphically shows you the entire control surface, labelling each control so you can see exactly what is assigned to what.

• Automap feeds back information from the plug-in, telling you what each parameter is called, and its current value: e.g - dBs, cutoff, LFO speed
  etc.

• If you want to use MIDI continuous controller numbers, simply type them in to the software edit page, and name your parameter.

Automap and Automap PRO

There are two different versions of Automap. Both are fully compatible with the same plug-ins and DAWs. However, Automap PRO is a supercharged version which comes with SL MkII (it is also available as an upgrade from here). Extra features in Automap PRO include:
Multiple device support
You can use two or more Novation controllers at the same time

Keystroke Assignments
PRO can assign almost any computer keyboard shortcuts and combination shortcuts, to knobs and buttons on your Novation controller.

Drag and drop
You can reassign knobs, faders and buttons by just dragging them across and dropping them on other controls

Autoview mode
This means that when you touch a knob or fader, Automap's software edit page automatically appears, then disappears when the control is released (this can be switched on or off)
