The story of Tegeler Audio Manufaktur is
particularly the story of Michael Krusch.
Formerly in his youth he developed and
built analogue drum computers and
synthesizer modules as enhancements for
home computers of that time. After
several years of working as a sound
engineer he became again infected by
this electronic virus. As a result in
2002 he began to reproduce
worldwide known audio classics with
euphonic names like Urei 1176, SSL-Bus-Compressor,
Altec 463a and PultecEQ. Sole
reproduction should not be the end of
the line, but he started to modify,
extend and re-developed circuits. Always
in the foreground: The audible results
of the modifications, being confirmed
through comprehensive testing in his own
sound studio. At urging of friendly
musicians and studio fellows he decided
to let others try his developments. The
only problem was that the test devices
did not come back! So he was forced to
build more and more units. Finally there
was no alternative but to found his own
enterprise - the Tegeler Audio
Manufaktur.
“The
products manufactured by Tegeler Audio
Manufaktur are intended to assist sound
engineers and musicians in realising
their individual ideas, with special
attention to the specific character of
the sound and its musicality. Along with
our very high level of quality control
our products bear comparison with all
international standards. Especially
today, in our fully digitised age,
demand for studio technology with unique
character has newly aroused. Analogue
circuitry - and particularly tube
technology - brings back long time
missed warmth and musicality.” Still
needs work! Tegeler Audio Manufaktur is
based in the North of Berlin, in a
district named Tegel. In addition to
garage and measurement laboratory all
newly developed products are being
tested in famous sound studios during
regular productions. Feedback we receive
directly influences development and
production of the units. All products of
Tegeler Audio Manufaktur are handmade -
consisting of high-quality and manually
selected components. |
